Somnus
The Roman god of sleep
Neu
From the German new
Experience
The phrase "user experience" has become ubiquitous - your mobile phone experience, your hotel experience, your web experience, your travel experience and so the list goes on. There is few, if any user experiences like Somnus-Neu - it truly is experience
The name is derived from the Roman god of sleep ("Somnus") and the German word for new ("neu"). Somnus-Neu is not just the command center for all of your technology; it is a destination within itself. Soft light spills from underneath the bed frame in a color of your own creation to suit your current mood. In addition, there's a side-mounted mood/ambiance light and a reading light. All are programmable and dimmable. Climb into bed and connect to the internet via Wi-Fi or Ethernet on one of the two touch screens hidden in the sides. You can envelop yourself in the solitude of the privacy curtain before lowering the drop down projection screen to watch a movie from the high definition video projector. Pamper your sense of sound with the 180W Class D digital amplifier and five point internal speaker system. With a sub audio experience compression drive and digital audio in/3.5mm analog audio in/iPod input/headphones out, you can lose yourself in sound.
Adding these qualities to the comfort and practicality of a technologically advanced bed frame not only makes sense, but it also enhances the entire "experience." While sleep experts might argue that the primary function of a bed is for falling off into a restful slumber, most people view their beds as more of a comfort zone. Easing oneself into and out of sleep often begins and ends in one's bed. Why not create a version of that experience that is optimized through the technology that we use anyway?
Other halves might not beleive it but new research shows that it's true - more than half of business travlers dn't leave the confines of their hotel when on a business trip. A new study of 1000 travellers commisioned by Samsung found that 57% never left their hotels. What's more, one in four never even left their rooms
Just the facts Mam
Internal functionality is variable depending on end use, for instance the hospitality version may require different configuration from private owner, as would airline lounge from hospital
